'Dream To Play Doubles With Him': Alcaraz On Possibly Playing With Nadal At 2024 Olympics

| by Alfredo Bassanelli

Carlos Alcaraz voiced his own unique dream as he aspires to play doubles alongside Spanish legend Rafael Nadal.

The Spaniard's statement came as a response to a question about Nadal's recent decision to withdraw from the 2023 Roland Garros and the possibility of his retirement after the 2024 season. Nadal had expressed a desire to make an appearance at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, setting off waves of speculation about his participation.

Alcaraz is obviously admiring the 22-time Grand Slam champion for everything that he achieved in his career, and for him to play alongside such a legend at the Olympics would be a dream come true as he revealed in Paris.

"For me, it could be a dream playing doubles with him, you know, in the Olympics. So of course let's see. Let's see how he's doing and how he's going, you know, in this year. Hopefully, you know, he's going great. But yeah, for me it could be a dream to play doubles with him."

When asked about Nadal's absence from the Roland Garros, it was clear that the Spaniard misses the legend of his country. While disappointment was clear in his tone, he remained hopeful for Nadal's swift recovery and return to the courts.

"Well, I felt bad when I hear that Rafa, he was not able to play here in Roland Garros and probably the rest of the year. You know, as I said before, as a fan of tennis, as I said, as a fan, you know, I always to watch Rafa playing. I always want to watch the best players in the world playing the tournaments."

"When I hear that, for me, it was tough, you know, to understand how it's gonna be, you know, without Rafa this year. Hopefully to see him next year that he's 100%, hopefully."

However, the prospect of this dream team coming to fruition hinges on several factors, including Nadal's health and readiness, the logistics of team formation, and the strategy of the Spanish tennis federation.
