Daniil Medvedev vs Sebastian Korda: 2024 Indian Wells Open - Preview & Prediction

by Zachary Wimer

Daniil Medvedev and Sebastian Korda had some interesting battles on the court so what might happen when they meet on the Indian Wells courts.

Daniil Medvedev absolutely hates the Indian Wells courts, and it's not even a joke. He absolutely hates them and how slow they are going as far as to call them a disgrace last year. Well, he started well this year, winning his first straight-set match.

Sebastian Korda won smoothly as well, but he's been playing really well for a while now, so that's not a huge surprise. He probably fancies these courts a bit better than Medvedev though we'll see if he'll be actually able to use them to his advantage.

Head-to-head:

Korda has actually given Medvedev quite a bit of trouble in the past. The American has bested him two times so far, losing the third match. The interesting part of their matchups is that Korda bested him on the faster courts.

The slower court was the one Medvedev won, which is interesting because he's apparently very anti-slow courts. He might be, but they suit his style really well because you can't basically hit a winner against him. Korda has tremendous power, making it possible for him to do so, but he can be streaky.

If he's missing more than he's hitting, then it's a problem. I actually think it will be his undoing in this match.

Prediction:

Don't be fooled by Medvedev's hatred for these courts. He hated them last year as well but then made the final, showing how good he can be on them. It was only a crazy level from Alcaraz that beat him, and I don't think Korda has that level.

Prediction: Medvedev to win in two.
