'Best Player In the World': Djokovic On Alcaraz After Wimbledon Loss

| by Balasz Virag

Carlos Alcaraz won the 2023 Wimbledon Championships confirming himself as number one on the ATP Tour, and Novak Djokovic called him the best player in the world.

It's very hard to pick which player is the best tennis player in the world. The sport is basically going on for 11 months of the year, so the situation is mostly fluid. While players on the top don't change as much as the weather does, it can change a few times in the year.

When Djokovic equalled Rafael Nadal's Grand Slam record at this year's Australian Open hardly anybody would argue that the bast player at the time was the Serb. When he downed Carlos Alcaraz at Roland Garros, he only confirmed himself as the best player in the world.

Jannik Sinner just called him the best player a few days ago, and now Djokovic is handing over the crown to another player. It's all very confusing but it's very hard to argue against Carlos Alcaraz being the best, especially after he outplayed Novak Djokovic in 'his house'.

The ATP Rankings paint the picture that Alcaraz is the best. He was number one before the event and the number one seed at the event, and he's going to be number one after the event as well, jumping ahead of the Serb by 880 points.

The event was basically a showdown for the number one spot on the rankings, as the winner was basically guaranteed to emerge as the top name. It ended up being Alcaraz and he's going to hold that spot for a few more weeks.

Speaking after the match, Djokovic confirmed that Alcaraz is the best player in the world who is playing some fantastic tennis on very different surfaces. He also said that the Spaniard is deserving of where he is right now.

He's proven that he's the best player in the world, no doubt. He's playing some fantastic tennis on different surfaces and he deserves to be where he is.
