Carlos Alcaraz revealed following his most recent win at the 2023 US Open that he doesn't change his preparation in between events.
Carlos Alcaraz is one of the best players in the world and one of the favourites to win the US Open. He's only one match away from the final, having beaten Alexander Zverev in the quarter-final recently. The opponent in the semi-final is Daniil Medvedev, a player he's beaten twice already this year on the ATP Tour, so many expect him to do so again.
It will be tough but it wouldn't be surprising as he's been spectacular this year. He's won 60 matches so far, already more than last year, and has far fewer losses (6). The overall level has been incredible in most events as he won six events so far in 8 finals he played.
Considering how well that has been going on for him, it's no surprise why he doesn't see a need to change his event prep. It's working really well, so he keeps it the same regardless of whether it's a Grand Slam or a regular event.
Not really. I'm doing the same things. You know, before matches I'm doing the same things. Mentally, you know, can change a little bit mentally going tournaments the best-of-five, but I try to do the same things.
You know, I'm doing well during the season. Why I have to change it? I just doing same things.
Let's see how far he goes at the US Open. Last year it worked out for him as he ended up as the champion, but Novak Djokovic didn't play. He's playing this year and looking very sharp.
They can only meet in the final, and many expect them to, considering that both are favoured to win their semi-final matchups. Both semi-finals will be played tomorrow.
