Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz haven't met on the ATP Tour in a while, but they have practiced ahead of the 2023 Paris Masters.
Alcaraz and Djokovic played some incredible matches this year. From the anticlimactic Roland Garros semi-final to the iconic Wimbledon final, it's never boring when they play.
The most recent one was the iconic Cincinnati final, where Djokovic proved how strong he can be even against all odds. Many hoped that the US Open would deliver one, but it didn't, as Daniil Medvedev ousted Alcaraz to put himself in the final.
The Paris Masters could be the place we get another one, but they will actually need to win a couple of matches to get there.
The match in Paris already happened, though, as they played a practice match in the French capital. Alcaraz talked about it during his pre-tournament press conference, admitting that it was actually the Serbian who won.
Well, I think it was the best way, you know, to get ready for this tournament, you know, practice with the best one. You know, we spoke before coming here to Paris and we, yeah, we talk about if we can practice one day. It happen yesterday. He won. (Laughter.) Hopefully just for practice (smiling).
Alcaraz hasn't played in a while, dealing with some injuries in the lead-up to this event, while Djokovic rested after winning the US Open and putting Serbia in the final eight of the Davis Cup Finals.
We'll see how their events go, as both will use it also to prepare for the ATP Finals. It's about figuring things out for the big event, which will start seven days after the conclusion of the Masters.
Alcaraz never played in Turin, while Djokovic went undefeated last year to win the event.
