Ben Shelton finally won his maiden ATP trophy at the 2023 Japan Open, and fellow colleagues Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, and Christopher Eubanks reacted to it.

Ben Shelton has amazed many people with his tremendous play this year, and among those are many fellow colleagues. Christopher Eubanks has been a fan of Shelton ever since the American bested him a couple of times on the Challenger Tour last year, and he was one of those who congratulated him on his Japan Open triumph.

Shelton finally put together a full week of impressive tennis in Tokyo beating Aslan Karatsev in straight sets to win his maiden ATP Trophy. Eubanks called him a different breed after the triumph.

You’re a different breed.

Fellow American Coco Gauff also reacted to the news by reposting the ATP's post with Shelton and his trophy, tagging the American and putting a phone emoji, which is a reference to the celebration he made viral at this year's US Open. Carlos Alcaraz congratulated him in the comments as well.

Alcaraz: Congrats man!
Shelton: Thanks bro!

Plenty of others congratulated Shelton on his triumph, including Denis Shapovalov, Yibing Wu, Caty McNally, Hubert Hurkacz, Tomas Etcheverry, and Gauff's coach, Pere Riba. He has the attention of the tennis world right now and for very good reason.

Not even a full year after breaking into the Top 100 last year, Shelton is nearing a debut in the Top 10 with a pretty decent chance to actually finish the year in the Top 10.

It will require one or two more spectacular runs, but with the way he played this year, is it that impossible? I'd say it's not, but let's see how he does in his next match against Jannik Sinner in Vienna.
