The second of two ATP tournaments held on Mexican soil is the Mexican Open in the beach city of Acapulco.

This ATP 500 tournament will run from February 26th to March 2nd, and the confirmed player list is already known. The tournament has now released details regarding prize money and points distribution during the seven days.

The seeding will be partially affected now that Grigor Dimitrov has withdrawn from the tournament. The Bulgarian former champion did not disclose his reason for skipping the event. That means Dallas champion Tommy Paul will be seeded.

Alexander Zverev will spearhead the field as the top seed. The German has a decent record in this tournament having won it in 2021. He has begun his tour of Mexico in Los Cabos, where he is taking part this week.

Zverev is joined in a very competitive lineup by the likes of Holger Rune, Taylor Fritz, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and last year's winner Alex de Minaur. Casper Ruud and Frances Tiafoe are also going to add much-needed strength in depth.

Some of the most dangerous unseeded players include Ben Shelton, Cameron Norrie, and Christopher Eubanks. USA's Mackenzie McDonald is expected to make his return after being on the sidelines for over a month.

The tournament has committed prize money in the region of $2,206,080. The breakdown will be as follows. The champion will get a sizable chunk of the paycheck amounting to $412,555 - almost a 10% increase from 12 months ago. He will also receive 500 ranking points.

The runner-up takes home $221,975 and will also get 330 points. Semifinalists will make six figures worth $118,300 and 200 points. Reaching the quarterfinals is no mean feat, and these players will pull in $60,440 and 100 points.

Winning just one main draw match guarantees a handsome reward. Players who do so will pocket $32,265. They will also receive 50 ranking points, which could prove critical in ascending the rankings. The prize money breakdown for this year's Mexican Open can be seen below.
