Tsitsipas & Badosa's Relationship Doesn't Affect Their Performance, Says Lopez

by Sebastian Dahlman

Feliciano Lopez doesn't think that the Tsitsidosa relationship will have an effect on either Stefanos Tsitsipas or Paula Badosa.

The Tsitsidosa relationship is a fairly new one, and so far, we can't be certain how it impacts either player. Tsisipas hasn't played that well, but he generally doesn't play that well during the grass season, so that could just be normal.

Badosa spent much of the last few weeks injured and reinjured herself at Wimbledon recently which will see her miss some more time. There is no timetable for her return so it's tough to see. As a professional, Lopez doesn't see a reason why the relationship will have any impact on them.

– I am not the one to give an opinion. I don’t have the information, nor do I think it’s something debatable. That a player has a girlfriend or boyfriend, that is not the subject of debate regarding his tennis career. Stefanos is a great professional. Like any person in any field, having a partner doesn’t have to affect his performance, not at all.

Lopez on the relationship

Tsitsipas and Lopez are very good friends, having played doubles together multiple times. They even won a trophy in Acapulco together, and both Stefanos and Badosa were in Mallorca for this year's Championships there.

Tsitsipas saw his good friend bid farewell to tennis in a fitting way, while Lopez got a chance to see the new relationship up close. In the talk with Clay Tennis, the Spaniard confirmed that he's happy for Stefanos cause he seems happy.

I haven’t really talked to him about it. I saw him a bit at Wimbledon and in Mallorca. We haven’t had much time to talk about it. I like people to be happy, I like my friends to be happy. He is happy at this moment in his life and I am very happy for him. I hope it goes well for them.
