Wozniacki Trying To 'Not Feel Guilty' When Juggling Her Tennis Career And Motherhood

Caroline Wozniacki has done a great job juggling her tennis career and motherhood; however, it's not been easy because both are full-time jobs.

Wozniacki is one of several active mothers competing on the tennis tour, which is great because it shows that it can be done. For a long time, there was a belief that a tennis player couldn't be a mother and be successful simultaneously, which quite a few have disproven.

Wozniacki is among them, as she returned to the sport last year after initially retiring in 2020. Since then, it's been a great time for her with some impressive runs at times. This year's US Open run has certainly been one of them because she's through to the second week of the event after some solid play.

After her most recent win, Wozniacki admitted that she loves playing at the US Open, and she's excited about the prospect of playing on one of the bigger courts.

"I love playing here. Any time I get to play another match here, I’m very pleased with that. I’m thrilled to be into the second week, of course. I’m just excited to get to play hopefully on one of the big courts in the next one (match) as well and kind of move from there."

Being able to do this while being a mother is certainly something she's very mindful of. Both are full-time jobs because she can't take days off from either. To be good at tennis, she has to practice regularly and keep in shape while juggling motherhood. It doesn't need an explanation.

She's quite content with the setup right now, loving every single second of motherhood while also being able to play tennis, which is another thing she loves. Asked how it is to juggle those two, she admitted that she tries to do her best, especially towards her kids.

"My kids are there every single day, and I really appreciate it. It’s the best job in the world, and I love it. I try to make sure that I am still there as 100% present mom while I’m also trying to balance being the best tennis player that I possibly can be. I think that’s where sometimes it can get a little tricky."

While tennis has been one of the most important things in her life in the past, these days, family is what matters most to her. It's not even a question but she also enjoys playing tennis, which requires time out of her schedule. She tries not to feel too guilty about being away from the kids due to tennis.

"Obviously my family is the most important thing to me, but at the same time, I love winning. So finding that balance of being I need to take time out for me and be able to recover and play and practice as much as I can and try not to feel guilty of taking a few hours away from the kids. I think that sometimes that mom guilt comes out, but I try and manage it as well as I can."
