Swiatek 'Keeping Expectations Low' To Prepare For 'Most Important Event In Sports'

Iga Swiatek will return to the Olympics later this year, and she can't wait, as she sees it as the biggest sporting event in the world.

The Olympic Games are truly the biggest event in the world in sports, and all athletes, including tennis players, want to win a medal there. That's nothing new, but for Swiatek, it's even more than that.

It's a family legacy because her father competed at the Olympic Games in the past, though he failed to win a medal. Swiatek already played at the Tokyo Olympics but didn't manage to go all the way.

However, she is the number one favourite for the 2024 Paris Olympics. It's because the Games are played in Paris on the very courts where she lifted the French Open trophy three times before.

It's one of the rare Olympic Games on clay, which makes it more likely for her to win, and she'll give it her all.

"Because of that I know that the Olympics are the most important event probably in sports overall. Winning any medal would be a dream come true. In Tokyo, I remember how stressful it was. This year I'm trying to really keep my expectations low but really work hard to be prepared for the Olympics."

Reports from her team have indicated that the Olympic Games were circled in her calendar as her biggest priority, which makes sense.

She held the games in high regard and spoke about the pressure she was going to feel while playing for her country. There is a plan in place to minimize the amount of pressure, and she'll just try to treat it like any other event.

"I'll try to do everything step by step, treat this tournament as any other one, even though these are the Olympics, not to put too much pressure on my shoulders."
