Iga Swiatek has clocked an 86th week at the top of the women's rankings, which is the 10th most time spent there as she continues her dominance.
Swiatek and closest rival
Aryna Sabalenka were not in action in the week leading to the 2024 Australian Open, meaning the gap between them stayed the same. Poland's Swiatek has 9,880 points, while Sabalenka has 8,905 points.
Because Sabalenka is defending the full 2,000 points at the Australian Open,
it is impossible for Swiatek to lose her number one spot regardless of the outcome of the year's first Grand Slam. However, Sabalenka has a mountain to climb to fend off
Elena Rybakina and
Coco Gauff to retain the second spot.
Jelena Ostapenko has rejoined the Top 10 for the first time since September 2018
following her title success in Adelaide - the seventh of her career. She did so at the expense of
Barbora Krejcikova, who dropped to 11th spot.
Daria Kasatkina, who was the runner-up in Adelaide, climbed two spots into 13th. American Madison Keys and Petra Kvitova face a potential Top 20 exit in a fortnight after
withdrawing from the 2024 Australian Open.
American rising star
Emma Navarro rose to a career-high ranking of No. 26 after a hard-fought title win in Hobart - the first of her burgeoning career. Former French Open finalist
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova reached her best ranking post-injury (46th) after a quarterfinal run in Adelaide.
Elisabetta Cocciaretto has cascaded down to 66th, a whopping 21 spots, after dropping her runner-up points from Hobart. Lauren Davis, who won the WTA 250 event in Tasmania last season, exits the Top 100, having been out of action since September.
Spain's
Paula Badosa, who picked up
her first Grand Slam match win at this year's Australian Open since July 2023, fell 26 spots and into 100th, her lowest ranking since 2019. You can visit
