Aryna Sabalenka took part in Break Point, the Netflix series that allowed fans to see the other side of tennis.
Most tennis fans see the players in pretty stagged circumstances. We see them when they walk onto the court from the tunnel, and then they disappear into the tunnel as well. We don't really see the locker room, and we don't see how emotional they can be.
Aryna Sabaelnka showed that part of herself in the Netflix series Break Point, which gave fans a close-up view of players and their day-to-day lives. It's very up and down, and the show demonstrated that well, which Sabalenka likes.
She talked about her experience filming the series and how, despite being an open person, there was still more to show of herself, which the show enabled.
"There is not only amazing moments, and we are not only having fun, there is something we are working on and we are struggling with. It's always up and downs. I'm open person."
"For me, it's not that hard to speak about my life and just tell my story. For me, was important to share my story with the people. I hope that people feel closer to me right now and they understand me better."
Overall, the show did a pretty decent job, even though the reviews were mixed. Even among players, there were those who liked it, like Bianca Andreescu, who expressed willingness to be part of it.
Others like Reilly Opelka didn't like it, and that was common among some of the fans, too. Some felt that it didn't really show anything new, while others enjoyed it.
Ultimately, Netflix elected to keep it alive, so we'll learn more about the players and the ins and outs of the Tour, and how players deal with day to day challenges.
