'I Don't Believe It 100%': Ostapenko On Electronic Line Calling At US Open

Jelena Ostapenko is one of the players who isn't afraid to speak her mind, often causing funny moments, with some choice thoughts on electronic line calling.

Ostapenko has never been one to fully embrace electronic line calling with her scepticism about it rather well known. She's expressed her doubts in the past and even slammed the technology at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Every match she plays features an iconic facial expression as she's questioning the call either from the umpire or the system when it's in place. It's become a meme and is a great source of entertainment for many fans around the world, and it's not going away any time soon.

Her impressive win over Iga Swiatek, which ended the Polish player's tenure as world number one on the WTA Tour features a few more of those iconic faces. She was asked about her mistrust of the system by former player Rennae Stubbs after the win over Swiatek and she delivered a classic comment.

"I don't believe it 100 %. I'm honest."

Well, she was honest so we can't really fault her for that. In any case, Ostapenko will have to endure the electronic line calling system in the future as it's here to stay. Some players are on board with it, some aren't, but it won't go anywhere.

Human umpires are also prone to mistakes, probably even more so than this system, which is why the Tour is switching to it permanently. Still, the Latvian gets frustrated about some of the calls, yet it may be something that she may need to deal with in the future.

I mean I don't know. Sometimes of course you get frustrated you just have to stay with the calls and nothing is going to change. You just have to play the next point but sometimes I get frustrated because I really want to win.
