The 2024 Cincinnati Open is a WTA 1000-level tournament that will run from August 13th to 19th, and details of prize money have been revealed.

This year, WTA players competing at this prestigious and important tournament in the lead-up to the US Open can look forward to increased prize money. The total purse has been announced as $3,211,715, which is nearly a 15.2% rise from 12 months ago.

The 2024 Cincinnati Open was headlined with a Legends Match featuring retired players Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Steffi Graf, and Lindsay Davenport on opening weekend.

Once the main draw action kicks off, fans can expect to see the return of World No. 1 Iga Swiatek back on the court after winning bronze at the Olympic Games. The Pole was a semifinalist last year at this tournament and can bag her second WTA 1000 on US soil after Indian Wells.

Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka were both stunned in Toronto. They will use the Cincinnati Open as a springboard for better performance for the remainder of the summer hard-court swing.

Elena Rybakina aims to return to competition after struggling with her health in recent months, while Jasmine Paolini and Jessica Pegula will target doing better than the quarterfinal they each managed in Cincinnati.

Qinwen Zheng is another player who took a week off from Montreal after bagging China's first-ever Olympic gold medal in tennis. Silver medalist Donna Vekic will look to continue in her rich vein of form and can break into the Top 20 once again.

The draw for the event has been revealed, pitting Swiatek and Gauff in opposite halves. Players competing on the 125th anniversary of the Cincinnati Open, formerly known as the Western & Southern Open, will be rewarded prize money and points in addition to the title.

This is the first time in the tournament's history that the total prize money has crossed the $3 million mark. That means players will be collecting lucrative payouts after the event.

For a first-round exit, players will earn $14,800 and will receive 10 points. Those who make it to the second round will be guaranteed $20,650 and 65 points, which will elevate their ranking before the US Open.

Those with ambitions to be seeded at the final Grand Slam of the season need to win at least two matches to reach the round of 16. There, the points tally will clock 120 points and a remuneration of $36,454.

Quarterfinalists will pocket $72,965 and receive a priceless 215 points. The semifinalists will be recognized with a paycheck of $158,944 and 390 points.

This year's champion at the Cincinnati Open will grow their bank account by at least half a million as she stands to earn $523,485 and will receive the full 1000 points. The runner-up, meanwhile, will earn $308,320 and will receive 650 points.

Although this is a combined Masters and WTA 1000 tournament running the same week on both tours, there is a significant prize money disparity. The complete breakdown for the women's tournament can be seen below.
