Despite playing some great tennis to win the 2025 US Open, sometimes it looked like Carlos Alcaraz's game wasn't the main talk of this year's US Open.
Alcaraz isn't just the ATP world No. 1 player, he is also a global superstar. With nearly 8 million followers on Instagram and a few more millions across other social media networks, his every step is closely followed.
Like many before him, the young Spaniard is not just a tennis icon, but also an icon when it comes to fashion. He often sports sleeveless Nike shirts on the tennis courts, a choice not many players make. On top of that, he is also sponsored by Louis Vuitton, often having fashion photo-shoots. Alcaraz is also a big sneaker fan, he loves to express himself through legendary shoes.
But those are not the only ways he expresses himself. The six-time Grand Slam champion is not afraid to rock any hairstyle, and those have become a main talking point when it comes to his fashion sense in recent years.
Alcaraz's barber, Victor, is often criticized for the haircuts that the world No. 1 appears with, as the 22-year-old is not afraid to try something fans might not appreciate. However, Victor was part of only one half of Alcaraz's latest experiments.
During the US Open, Alcaraz appeared with a buzzcut, shocking the fans around the world. Some loved it, some hated it, and eventually, the two-time US Open champion revealed that the cut was a mistake after a misunderstanding with his brother.
After coming home to Murcia following his win in New York, Alcaraz quickly met with his barber Victor and came up with another change. He turned blonde, something that once again divided the opinions of the fans, but, of course, in a lighthearted way.
Alcaraz hinted at some change already during the US Open, and it seems that one player knew exactly what was coming next. Many players were asked about the Spaniard's new haircut, including Naomi Osaka.
Osaka stated that she admired Alcaraz's bravery for trying something new, and she also suggested that he should "dye it platinum" next, something she likely didn't expect would happen in a few days after she said it.
"Do I like it? I like people who do different things. So, I find everything kind of interesting if someone doesn't do something expected. I guess I like it. He's switching up. Maybe next time, he should dye it platinum or something."

Where will fans see blonde Carlos Alcaraz for the first time?

Despite winning the US Open title less than a week ago and travelling home to Spain, it seems that Alcaraz still plans to travel to San Francisco and compete at the upcoming Laver Cup.
The exhibition event starts on September 19th, and if Alcaraz sticks to his commitment, as the latest reports suggest, fans will have a chance to see him with his new hairstyle already in a week.
