Casper Ruud's family will grow by another member after he and his fiancée, Maria Galligani, announced they are expecting their first child.
Casper Ruud got engaged to Maria Galligani in November 2024. He announced the engagement through a social media post, which he captioned, 'Can't wait to marry you.' Now, 10 months later, the two announced even more good news. Ruud and Galligani will become parents.
Once again, Ruud chose an Instagram post to announce the news to his fans, even sharing that
his fiancée is expecting a baby girl. Many of Ruud's colleagues from the
ATP Tour quickly flooded the comments with congratulatory messages.
Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Denis Shapovalov, Rafael Nadal, Tommy Paul, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina were just some of the players who congratulated the duo.
Ruud will join a growing list of fathers on the ATP Tour. The likes of Novak Djokovic, Lorenzo Musetti, Daniil Medvedev, Gael Monfils, Nicolas Jarry, and Taylor Fritz are all fathers, and Ruud will soon have some stories to share with them, too.
Casper Ruud is a family man not only in his private life but also on the ATP Tour
Ruud is one of the players who brings his family also on the Tour with him, but not just as an emotional support, but also as a part of his professional team. For example, Stefanos Tsitsipas is coached by his father Apostolos, Alexander Zverev works with his father Alexander Zverev Sr., and Ben Shelton is coached by his father Bryan Shelton.
Casper Ruud works with his dad, Christian Ruud, who is a former ATP world No. 39. Recently, Christian Ruud spoke to
ATPTour.com about travelling with his son and how strong their bond is.
"I think I was able to prepare Casper better than others, giving him a sense of how it is on Tour. I think also when you’ve been a player, you know what worked for you, what exercises or training you think is effective and smart."
"We don’t practise much more than the others, but we maybe practise smarter than the others, more effectively and focusing on the right things. I took some of my experience, with all the different coaches I had, and tried to use that in my coaching career."
"I asked him if he wanted to look for some other coaches, and he said, 'No, I want you to come back and be my coach.' Since then, it’s been going quite well and it seems like he’s happy with me. We’ve made some good results, and we’re both happy."
"I feel like a coach, a father, and also a friend. We have a lot of the same interests: We like to play golf and we listen to a little bit of the same music. Of course, we have the father-son relationship, but he also respects that I’m also his coach, and he doesn’t make a fuss about it."
