The 2025
Swiss Indoors in Basel, scheduled from October 20th to 26th, promises to be a great tournament. Its
prize money and ranking points have been released.
Last year's iteration was the best moment of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard's career so far. The huge-serving Frenchman
overcame Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-6 to win his maiden
ATP 500 title.
Shelton was gracious in defeat afterward and will try to take the next step at the 2025 iteration. The two-time Grand Slam semifinalist is one player on the Swiss Indoors' superb entry list.
The tournament organizers in Basel have committed to offering a prize money pot of €2,523,045. Although slightly less than the 2025 Vienna Open, which will be held during the same week, it is still a significant amount.
This year's Swiss Indoors champion will have €471,825 added to their bank accounts. That is an improvement on the €446,045 awarded to Mpetshi Perricard for being the 2024 champion in Basel.
The 2025 winner will also be awarded 500 ranking points for their impressive effort. Those points could still make a difference in the battle to qualify for the 2025 ATP Finals, one of the most prestigious events on the calendar.
Fritz and Shelton have not yet qualified for the year-end championships, but are in strong positions. Ruud has an outside chance of making it to the tournament in Turin, and a good result at the Swiss Indoors might be essential to his hopes.
Since the tournament's inception, Roger Federer, Juan Martin Del Potro, and John McEnroe have all finished as the runner-up in Basel. This year's losing finalist will receive €253,875 and 330 points for being the second-best player of the week.
Although the rewards keep declining with each preceding round, a six-figure sum of €135,300 is still on offer for the losing semifinalists. They will also collect 200 points to boost their position in the rankings.
The four defeated quarterfinalists are guaranteed to leave the Swiss Indoors with €69,125 and 100 points. For the round of 16 losers, those totals will be €36,900 and 50 points. No ranking points are given to those defeated in the opening round, but they will still get €19,680.
Although players like Alexander Zverev, Novak Djokovic, Fritz, and Shelton are in good positions to qualify, their ATP Finals' places are still not secured, adding an additional layer of fascination to the season's final weeks.
Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner qualified for the year-end championships a while ago. Alcaraz secured his position in July, while Sinner did in August despite not playing for three months while suspended.
The pair's qualification for the ATP Finals before their fellow players is a great demonstration of their dominance. Since the start of 2024, they have split the last eight Grand Slams between them.
