Jannik Sinner will compete at the 2025 Shanghai Masters despite struggling with his health in his last event.
Sinner came to Shanghai after competing at the ATP 500 event in Beijing. He won the title at the China Open, beating Learner Tien in a straightforward final. Although the final match was straightforward for the world No. 2 player, the rest of the tournament wasn't, at least when it comes to his health.
He had a problem with his foot, his elbow, and even his digestion, as he struggled with a gastrointestinal illness. Despite these struggles, the Italian wasn't interested in discussing them in Beijing, as he didn't want to sound like he was making excuses, declaring himself fit ahead of the final match.
After arriving in Shanghai, Sinner didn't change the narrative. The 24-year-old once again declared himself fit to compete, even though he acknowledged that the conditions in Shanghai are more challenging than those in Beijing.
"I feel good. I said it before the final that I'm ready for the final, and so it was. Here, it's different. It's more humid, it's hotter. I don't know how it's going to feel on court, but today I have one day where I can rest, and tomorrow I am going to have more feedback for my body and mind, and trying to prepare for the first round match, then we'll see how it goes."
"I'm looking forward to it. It's a great challenge. Playing first round matches is never easy, so let's see what's coming, and hopefully I can show some good tennis here."

Jannik Sinner addresses the latest changes in his game

After losing the US Open final to Carlos Alcaraz and struggling with his serve recently, Sinner has decided to address that issue. He was seen working on his serve multiple times, which is why the Italian player was asked about the recent changes in his game.
According to the four-time Grand Slam champion, it's perfectly normal for tennis players to change their game and improve all the time. Since his rivals do it, Sinner has to as well, so he can keep challenging for majors.
"I'm not the only one who is changing. If you ask every player, every player is changing stuff and trying to get better. You know, whatever we try to do, it's not crazy steps, just trying to adjust a couple of things, trying to get better as a player, like everyone else does."
"Certain shots that worked slightly better than the months before, certain shots we can still improve. But it's also normal, and I'm just looking forward to have as many matches as possible in every tournament. This gives me also the chance to try as many things as possible. So, let's see, but, yeah, we are quite happy with the work we are doing."
