The final week of
ATP 500 tournaments this season will occur from October 20th to 26th. One of those events is the 2025
Vienna Open.
Last year's Vienna Open marked 50 years since the tournament's first iteration in 1974. Thankfully, the players in the draw produced tennis that made the landmark edition memorable for the fans and organizers.
Jack Draper won his maiden ATP 500 title at the 2024 Vienna Open. The Briton overcame Karen Khachanov to achieve a result that might have given him the momentum for his career-best 2025 season.
Unfortunately, Draper cannot defend the title he won last year. The 2025 Indian Wells Open champion
ended his season early because of an arm injury that forced him to withdraw before the 2025 US Open second round.
After missing the 2024 iteration, 2023 winner
Jannik Sinner is the star attraction on this year's entry list. His hopes of overtaking Carlos Alcaraz at No. 1 before the end of the year are slim, but still alive.
There is a
prize money pot of €2,736,875 for the 2025 Vienna Open. That provides ample incentive for all the players to try their hardest to win the highest share possible of the money on offer.
This year's Vienna Open champion will receive €511,835 and 500 points. That is an improvement on the €461,920 given to Draper after his heroics at last year's iteration, showing the organizers' commitment to attracting the best players.
The runner-up will leave the tournament with €275,390 and 330 points. Medvedev finished as the runner-up to Sinner in 2023 after narrowly losing a thrilling final against the former world No. 1.
Lorenzo Musetti, who
caused a massive controversy with his comments about Chinese fans, and Alex de Minaur were 2024's defeated semifinalists. €146,765 and 200 ranking points will be given to men who fall at that stage this year.
The financial reward dips to five figures from the quarterfinal stage. Whichever four players are eliminated at that point will have €74,980 added to their bank account, as well as being given 100 ranking points.
No players receive byes at ATP 500 events, meaning everyone in the draw must fight for a place in the round of 16. Those who get to that point without going any further will gain €40,025 and 50 ranking points for winning one match in Vienna.
As always, no ranking are given to players who lose in the opening round of an ATP 500 tournament. However, just being in the main draw will not be for nothing because they are still guaranteed €21,345.
Hopefully, this year's iteration matches the tennis produced in 2024. Sinner's commitment to the tournament makes that more likely, and the others in the draw could have their work cut out because of the Italian's dominance
against the entire ATP Tour, except Carlos Alcaraz.
