Maxime Cressy is a French-American professional tennis player who was born on May 8, 1997, in Paris, France. Born to French father Gerard and American mother Leslie, he grew up in a sporting household, setting the stage for him to follow in such footsteps.

After spending several years finding his feet on the ITF and Challenger tours, the Parisian player turned pro in 2019. His main draw ATP debut came just one year after that, and it was not at the expected 250 level where he first made his presence felt.

His first appearance on the main ATP Tour was at the 2020 US Open. He was gifted a first-round tie against the then-world number 123 Jozef Kovalik. Winning in four sets, he set up a sound-round match-up with experienced Stefanos Tstisipas. The gulf in class was evident, but the American kept up well with the Greek, losing 6-7, 3-6, 4-6.

After spending the 2021 season getting used to proceedings on the ATP Tour, he managed to get many more appearances under his belt. This set him up nicely for the 2022 season, where he hit the ground running, reaching the final of the season-opening Melbourne Summer Set; he came all the way through qualifying to eventually lose in the final to Rafael Nadal.

He then backed up this performance at the Australian Open, reaching the fourth round, only to lose to eventual finalist Daniil Medvedev. He then saw some positive results come on the grass of 2022, with his powerful, big-serving, serve-volley game style helping him to reach the final of the Eastbourne International.

All was not lost, though, with him claiming his first ATP title just a matter of weeks later at the Newport Open. After a stellar 2022 season, he broke into the Top 35 for the first time in his career.
