The 2023 Newport Open will run from July 17th to 23rd, and the draw has been revealed for the ATP 250 tournament.

Also called the Hall of Fame Open, the tournament in Newport, Rhode Island in the United States, is the last grass-court tournament in the calendar, and the only tournament played on the grass surface after the conclusion of the third Grand Slam of the season.

Last year saw Maxime Cressy and Alexander Bublik battle it out in the final, after which the Kazakhstani player hilariously told his opponent that he was lucky. This year, the runner-up won't play in Newport, while the defending champion will be present at the event.

Cressy is the fifth seed, and in the first round of the tournament, he will play against fellow American Alex Michelsen. But the main storyline of the tournament will certainly be the shocking comeback of Kevin Anderson who retired only a couple of years ago.

The tall South African received a wild card for the tournament and in the first round, he will play against Gabriel Diallo from Canada. If the 37-year-old two-time Grand Slam finalist succeeds, he will play against either the sixth-seeded Max Purcell or Gijs Brouwer.

The top seed at the tournament is Tommy Paul. As all top four seeded players at this ATP 250 tournament, the American had a bye in the first round of the competition, awaiting the winner of the match between a qualifier and home wild card Ethan Quinn in the second round.

John Isner will also make an appearance in the tournament, and he will start against one of the qualifiers. The fourth-seeded Mackenzie McDonald will wait for a qualifier or Aleksandar Vukic in the second round, while a similar scenario awaits the third-seeded Ugo Humbert who may play a qualifier or Steve Johnson.

The seventh-seeded Jordan Thompson is one of the grass-court specialists in the draw, and the Australian will start against Aleksandar Kovacevic in the first round. The second-seeded Adrian Mannarino is another name that can play well on the surface, with the Frenchman starting against Rinky Hijikata or Abdullah Shelbayh.
