Alexander Bublik proved many times that he does not care what people think about him and he certainly did not care during the Hall of Fame Open trophy ceremony.

The player from Kazakhstan was very bitter following his loss to Maxime Cressy and with very good reason. He was up 6-2 3-0 in the match outplaying his opponent fairly easily but he the price for playing a bit too loose in the 2nd set. Cressy came back to win the 2nd set 6-3 and won the final one 7-6(3) to lift his maiden trophy in Newport.

It was an outcome that the American crowd did not mind one single bit as Cressy is a native player but Bublik certainly did not care about being sympathetic to the accomplishment. The ceremony was quite doomed from the start as the organizers did not hand out Bublik the proper trophy during the ceremony as he was forced to pick up and give back a trophy twice.

He then deleivered a classic Bublik speech saying:

"There is not much to say to be honest with you. I'm very upset. You got very lucky. Put your whole prize money on red. You’re going to win big."

The crowd did not like it, the organizers were perplexed and Cressy did not appreciate it either. He clapped back albeit with class.

“I apologize for being lucky.”
