Without a doubt, in 2022 Iga Swiatek has been the most dominant player that WTA Tour witnessed in the past few seasons.

The young Pole leads WTA Rankings by almost 6000 points and she has more points than the second and third player combined. Overall, Iga Swiatek won 62 out of 70 matches she played and won 7 titles along the way. Moreover, she had a 37-match winning streak that was longer than one that Venus Williams had in 2000 (35 matches) and also Serena Williams' streak from 2013 which was 34 matches long. But despite the fact that the 23-time Grand Slam champion couldn't win more matches in a row than current world no. 1, her 2013 season was truly out of this world.

After being troubled by injuries in seasons before, Serena Williams started the 2013 season as world no. 3. However, already in Brisbane she showed that this season will be special as she lost only 17 games in four matches on her way to the title.

Despite being super dominant also at the Australian Open (lost 8 games in 4 matches), the American eventually lost to compatriot Sloane Stephens in the quarterfinals, Then, she played another solid tournament in Qatar, where she lost in the final to Victoria Azarenka before starting her 34-match winning streak.

Williams triumphed in Miami, Charleston, Madrid, Rome and at Roland Garros and overall in 2013, she never lost a match on the clay as she kept a perfect record. After losing in the fourth round of Wimbledon, Serena triumphed in Toronto before losing second final of the season to Victoria Azarenka, this time in Cincinnati.

But that would be the last loss for the 23-time Grand Slam champion, who then started another 28-match winning streak to end the season with triumphs at the US Open, in Beijing and at WTA Finals.

All in all, Serena Williams played 82 matches in 2013 and won 78 of them. She was also successful in 11 out of 13 finals she played and won the most titles since Martina Hingis' 12 in 1997. She also collected $12,385,572 in prize money and recorded one of the most dominant seasons in the history of women's tennis.
