After another early exit, this time from the 2022 Roland Garros, Emma Raducanu should join forces with a new coach.
Ahead of the grass-court part of the season, Raducanu is considering a temporary partnership with Andy Murray's old coach, Jamie Delgado. The Brit has reached out to one of the best coaches in the world to enlist his help in the coming weeks as she shifts her focus away from the slowest surface to the fastest surface.
Delgado just ended his relationship with Denis Shapovalov, a Canadian with whom he began working after his long partnership with Andy Murray ended late last season. He has tremendous experience, winning the Wimbledon Championships with Murray in 2016.
For Raducanu, working with an experienced coach will be an important step on her journey towards becoming a top player on the WTA Tour, as she has struggled to back up her sensational US Open run from 2021.
Since then, the Brit started the 2022 season with a first-round loss in Sydney to Elena Rybakina, before she was eliminated in the second round of the Australian Open by Danka Kovinic. That was followed by a first-round exit in Guadalajara and a third-round loss at Indian Wells.
She then lost in her first match at the Miami Open, before completing her first-ever professional clay-court season, during which she managed to win two matches in Stuttgart and Madrid, before retiring in Rome and losing in the second round at the French Open.
Now, with probably some preparation grass-court tournament on the home soil, and Wimbledon after that, Raducanu will want to forget these bad results and once again prove the tennis world that she can be one of the best players,
She certainly managed to prove that at the 2021 US Open, and doing it again shouldn't be a problem for the young talent.
