2023 Transylvania Open Cluj WTA Prize Money & Points Overview

Tour-level tennis returns to Romania for the third edition of the Transylvania Open which will run from October 16th to 22nd.

Voted as the best WTA 250 tournament in 2022 by the players, the Transylvania Open has set the standard in terms of hospitality. And this season tournament organizers have assembled a plethora of top-tier personnel to play the event.

Matches will be played under the roof at the multipurpose BTarena in Cluj-Napoca. The entry list for the 2023 edition came out with 23 direct entrants confirmed. Reigning WTA Finals champion Caroline Garcia is the sole Top 10 player on the field.

The Frenchwoman will be joined by three members of the world's Top 30, those being Donna Vekic, Sorana Cirstea, and Anhelina Kalinina. Besides the in-form Cirstea, the Romanian contingent will be well represented with Patricia Maria Tig, Ana Bogdan, and Jaqueline Cristian all expected to thrill the home fans.

The 32-player singles field will all want to fight for their share of the prize money total of $259,303 which represents an increment of 3% from last year's purse. In addition, rankings points at this stage of the season could be crucial for players looking to build on their ranking at the turn of the year.

The winner of the Transylvania Open will have the most significant chance to do that with 280 WTA points and $34,228 earned in prize money. The runner-up will make a fortune in excess of $20,226 and will be awarded 180 points.

Both players that lose in the semifinals in Cluj-Napoca will get 110 points and $11,275 in prize money, while all four losing quarterfinalists will get 60 points and pocket $6,418 each. Players who win at least one match get 30 points and $3,920 in prize money.

Even those who fail to make an impression and lose at the first hurdle will not leave Romania with empty pockets. Those will receive $2,804 in cash money and will receive 1 point.
