Carlos Alcaraz is the world No. 1 player once again, two years after occupying the spot the last time.
Alcaraz first rose to the No. 1 spot on the ATP Tour in 2022. It came after he won his maiden title at the US Open, and as they say, history repeats itself. The Spaniard won the tournament for the second time in his career, and yet again, it meant that he rose to the world No. 1 spot again.
Alcaraz last held the top spot on September 10th, 2023, after which Novak Djokovic took it over from him. The Serbian player then held the spot for 39 weeks before Jannik Sinner's 65 reign. That is now over after he lost the US Open final. Alcaraz has already started his fifth stay atop the rankings.
The 22-year-old has a total of 11,540 points, which is 760 more than the second, Jannik Sinner. The Italian's total stands at 10,780, and he defends more points in the remainder of the season. So far in 2025, Alcaraz has earned a total of 10,540 points while Sinner has accumulated 7,950 points.
Behind the two is Alexander Zverev. The German player has 5,930 points, and he hasn't closed the gap to the two players ahead. He lost 300 points compared to last year. Still, Zverev is exactly 1,100 points ahead of fourth-ranked Novak Djokovic.
The Serbian player reached the semi-finals in New York, which meant he improved his position by three spots, rising to the world No. 4 rank. However, it's expected that Djokovic will start dropping down the rankings in the upcoming weeks, as he isn't expected to play any more events in 2025 apart from the ATP 250 tournament in Greece.
The closest to Djokovic in the rankings is fifth, Taylor Fritz. The highest-ranked American lost one position in the rankings. He now has 4,675 and is in a close fight for the American No. 1 spot. Sixth Ben Shelton has 4,280 points.
Jack Draper was forced to withdraw from the tournament, and as a result, he dropped down the rankings. He is now seventh in the ATP Rankings with 3,690 points. Alex de Minaur is eighth with 3,545 points, and Lorenzo Musetti is in close ninth with 3,505 points. Karen Khachanov is the last man in the Top 10 with 3,280 points.
Felix Auger-Aliassime had a great run in New York after a few bad months. He rose by 14 positions to the No. 13 spot with 2,755 points. He has the same number of points as Casper Ruud ahead of him.
On the other hand, Frances Tiafoe failed to defend his points from last year when he reached the semi-finals. He lost in the third round this year and dropped to the No. 29 position.
