There will be three ATP 250 events held from October 13th to 19th, and the 2025 Stockholm Open has probably the best draw of them all.
Tennis players moved to Europe again after competing in the penultimate ATP Masters 1000 event of the season. One of those tournaments held in Europe is the Stockholm Open, which managed to attract a very solid field of players.
The event will be full of Nordic players, headlined by the top seed, Holger Rune. He is the only Danish player in the draw and will start against the winner of the match between Jesper de Jong and Marton Fucsovics. Rune, like all the top four seeded players, has a first-round bye.
On the opposite side of the draw is one of the two Norwegian players who will play in Stockholm. Casper Ruud is the second seed, and he can meet fellow compatriot Nicolai Budkov Kjaer in the second round. Budkov Kjaer will need to beat Marin Cilic in the first round for an all-Norwegian meeting to happen in the second round.
Three Swedish players received a wild card, and they all appear next to each other in the draw, on lines 19, 20, and 21. Leo Borg, son of the legendary Bjorn Borg, drew Sebastian Ofner in the first round of the tournament. But the other two wild cards created probably the most exciting first-round match for the home fans.
Brothers Mikael Ymer and Elias Ymer will play in the first round of the ATP 250 event in Stockholm. The winner of this match will then play against the fifth-seeded Tallon Griekspoor or Jacob Fearnley in the second round.
The all-brother first-round match in Stockholm will be a great follow-up after an all-cousin Shanghai Masters final, in which Valentin Vacherot beat Arthur Rinderknech.
Ugo Humbert is the fourth seed and also has a first-round bye. He will await the winner of the match between Matteo Berrettini and a qualifier in the second round of the tournament.
Denis Shapovalov will want to finish the season with a title again, like he did last year when he won the tournament in Belgrade. Shapovalov is a former Stockholm Open champion, having won the tournament in 2019.
This year, he is the third seed and will start against the winner of the match between Borg and Ofner. There will also be an exciting first-round match played in Shapovalov, in which the seventh-seeded Alexei Popyrin will be challenged by Sebastian Korda.
