The penultimate WTA 500 of the season will be played at the 2025 Ningbo Open, and its prize money and ranking points are now publicly known.
Scheduled from October 13th to 19th, the Ningbo Open has one of the best entry lists for a WTA 500 seen in 2025. It includes eight of the current Top 12 players in the rankings for fans to enjoy if no one withdraws.
2024 runner-up Mirra Andreeva is on this year's entry list. The teenager cried during the trophy ceremony after losing to Daria Kasatkina, who hugged her because she felt sympathy for the young star.
Elena Rybakina, Amanda Anisimova, and home favorite Qinwen Zheng are among the other Top ten players on the entry list. Rybakina is one of those still fighting for a place at the 2025 WTA Finals.
Emma Raducanu was awarded a wild card for the Ningbo Open. She is popular at Chinese tournaments because her mother was born in the country, and the 22-year-old wowed the fans in Beijing by speaking Mandarin in a post-match interview.
This year's tournament has a sizeable prize money pot of $1,064,510. Because of its entry list, the fight to win the highest percentage of that amount could be among the most competitive seen in 2025.
The Ningbo Open's reward for being the best player of the week will be $164,000 and 500 points. Ons Jabeur, who ended her 2025 season early, is the other former winner since the event became a 250 and then 500-level tournament.
Diana Shnaider lost to Jabeur in 2023. Whoever falls at the final hurdle later this month will leave Ningbo with a more than respectable 325 points and $101,000 for coming so close to being the champion.
The 195 points awarded to the defeated semifinalists could also be crucial in the race for the WTA Finals, or for those wanting a late surge before the season finishes. Those players are also guaranteed $59,005.
Barbora Krejcikova, Anna Kalinskaya, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Yulia Putintseva were 2024's beaten quarterfinalists. The four women who reach that stage without going further will be given $31,100 and 108 points.
$15,825 and 60 points will be awarded for reaching the round of 16. That drops to $11,300 and one point for being in the main draw but not winning any matches from that point.
The 2025 Wuhan Open is the final WTA 1000 event of 2025, followed by the 500-level tournaments in Ningbo and the Japan Open in Tokyo. These will probably determine who makes it to Riyadh for the WTA Finals.
Coco Gauff sealed her place at the WTA Finals after beating Belinda Bencic at the 2025 China Open. This year's French Open champion joined Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek, who had already booked their spots.
Regardless of who qualifies, matching the exceptional 2024 WTA Finals will be challenging. Gauff dramatically beat Qinwen Zheng 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 to win the title.
