The 2025
Moselle Open in Metz, scheduled from November 2nd to 8th, will be one of the final two tournaments played before the 2025
ATP Finals.
First played in 2003, the Moselle Open has a lengthy history of local winners, including Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gilles Simon, and Gael Monfils, who has announced that
the 2026 season will be his last before retirement.
Novak Djokovic is the tournament's most high-profile winner. The tennis legend won just his second career title in 2006, recovering from losing the first set against Jurgen Melzer in the final.
Benjamin Bonzi was an unexpected winner of last year's iteration, overcoming Cameron Norrie in the final in front of a very supportive French crowd. He is back on the
entry list for the 2025 edition.
The Moselle Open is an indoor hard court tournament that
Felix Auger-Aliassime has yet to win. Six of the Canadian's seven career titles have come in those conditions, most recently in Lyon earlier this year.
That formidable record means Auger-Aliassime is among the favorites for almost any indoor hard court tournament he enters. His impressive 2025 enhances this further, including reaching the 2025 US Open semifinal.
The Moselle Open could decide whether Auger-Aliassime qualifies for the 2025 ATP Finals. He is currently 10th in the face, but 9th-placed
Jack Draper has already ended his season because of an arm injury.
If Auger-Aliassime plays well between now and the Moselle Open, he might still qualify for the ATP Finals for the first time since 2022, but remains an underdog to do that at this stage, though.
Alexander Bublik is an even more significant outsider for the ATP Finals, but his hopes are not mathematically over. The Kazakhstani has won an outstanding four titles in 2025: the Halle Open, Swiss Open, Austrian Open, and Hangzhou Open.
However, Bublik's chances of making it to Turin were significantly damaged by his failure to win a match at the 2025 China Open and the 2025 Shanghai Open. He currently sits 14th in the race for the ATP Finals.
Frances Tiafoe has no chance of qualifying for the year-end championships. Despite the occasional flash of brilliance, the American has struggled to build any consistent momentum since a heartbreaking 2024 US Open semifinal defeat against Taylor Fritz.
Although Tiafoe's commitment to playing so late into the season is admirable, some time away from the professional circuit might help him. He is among those scheduled
to compete in exhibitions in December.
Ugo Humbert was born in Metz, meaning he receives the most vociferous support each year. His 2023 run to the title delighted the fans, and the 27-year-old will try to replicate that achievement next month.
Tallon Griekspoor is on the entry list. The Dutchman was Jannik Sinner's opponent at the 2025 Shanghai Masters when
the Italian retired after suddenly cramping up in the very hot conditions.
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard,
Lorenzo Sonego, Alex Michelsen, Learner Tien, and Alex Michelsen are among the other names on the Moselle Open entry list.
