The 2025 Mexican Open in Acapulco starts on February 24th, and the prize money details have been made publicly available. Players will share a total of $2,585,410.

This year's Mexican Open entry list is very strong. It includes Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Casper Ruud. The lineup is arguably slightly superior to the Dubai Championships, which occurs during the same week.

A notable omission from the Mexican Open entry list is the 2023 and 2024 champion Alex de Minaur, who beat Ruud in last year's final. The Australian decided to sign up for the Dubai Championships instead.

The difference in prize money between the tournaments might have proved crucial in de Minaur's thinking. Despite both tournaments having ATP 500 status, the Dubai Championships offers slightly better financial remuneration for players.

However, the rewards are still very good for this year's iteration of the Mexican Open. As always, players will also compete to win as many ranking points as possible at the ATP 500 event in Acapulco.

The 2025 Mexican Open champion will earn a significant $483,515 in prize money and have 500 ranking points added to their total. Rafael Nadal, who recently revealed he lives without much pain since retiring, is among the former champions at the tournament.

Nadal was also the runner-up at the tournament in 2017 to Sam Querrey. Zverev and Fritz are among the others to be a losing finalist, although Zverev secured the title in Acapulco in 2021.

330 ranking points and $260,150 will be given to this year's runner-up at the Mexican Open. There are many possible finalists from the entry list, and choosing a winner will not be easy for fans planning to watch the tournament.

The losing semifinalists at the 2025 Mexican Open are guaranteed to collect 200 ranking points and $138,645 in prize money. Jack Draper and Holger Rune were last year's semifinalists. Draper was forced to retire against de Minaur.

Four players will fall in the quarterfinals in Acapulco. Those men are still set to be rewarded quite well with $70,830 in prize money and 100 ranking points, which will make winning two matches at the tournament worth it.

Players who win one match to reach the round of 16 will receive 50 ranking points and $37,810 for their efforts. No ranking points are awarded to those who exit in the first round, but $20,165 will still be deposited into their bank accounts.

There was some controversy surrounding Zverev, Fritz, and Tommy Paul when they were announced for an exhibition in Las Vegas. The announcement simply stated the exhibition would occur on March 1st and 2nd.

That led to some confusion because the final of the Mexican Open is scheduled for March 1st, making some wonder whether any of the trio would skip the final if they reached it to go and feature at the exhibition.

Fritz later clarified that the exhibition's opening day would only contain a women's match and that he, Zverev, and Paul agreed to appear on March 2nd. The American was also disappointed that fans assumed the worst in them rather than connecting the dots themselves.
