Despite not playing a single rally yet in the 2022 season, Roger Federer is still the eighth-highest-earning athlete and the highest-earning tennis player this year.
Federer is on his way back to the tennis courts when recently the news broke out of the Swiss Maestro reportedly signing up to play the 2022 Swiss Indoors in Basel.
Besides playing tennis, Federer has a lot of other activities, such as charity, when he recently donated 3000 tablets to Malawi.
The popular Laver Cup is also run by the 20-time Grand Slam champion, as it seems that Carlos Alcaraz might be part of the 2022 edition of the event, which will be played in London.
According to Sportico, Roger Federer should earn around $85.7 million in 2022 out of which $85 million should come from endorsements.
Ahead of the Swiss Maestro, there are only 7 athletes, out of which three are football superstars Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar, and three basketball stars, LeBron James, who topped the list, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant. The seventh athlete is the Mexican boxing legend Canelo Alvarez.
There are two more tennis players on the list, but they are not Rafael Nadal or Novak Djokovic. 20th on the list is the four-time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, and the WTA legend Serena Williams is 52nd.
In only endorsements, Federer is the second highest-earning athlete in the world behind LeBron James. That is despite the Swiss Maestro not playing a single match since last year's Wimbledon Championships when he lost to Hubert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
At the moment, he's trying to recover to return to the tennis courts, and even though he might not have many reasons to be happy about his on-court performances at the moment, Federer can certainly be happy about the performance of his brand.
