Carlos Alcaraz has skyrocketed in the ATP rankings, and his popularity has grown in recent months, which has led to comparisons with some of the legends of the past and current era.
Alcaraz has been an incredible hit on the men's circuit since he made his Tour-level debut in Rio back in 2020. This year, he's fast-tracked his rise into the Top 10, winning two Masters titles, one of which was at his home tournament in Madrid.
There, he became the first man to beat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in back-to-back matches on a clay court on his way to winning the tournament. Several pundits and tennis fans believe that the young Spaniard is destined to reach the mountaintop in the near future.
With his rise to prominence, some of Alcaraz's past memories are unfolding, including a video from when he was still a 12-year-old aspiring tennis player.
The Murcia youngster was asked a series of questions, brainstorming about his name, age, and biggest win so far in his young career. When asked which Grand Slam tournament he would like to win, the young Spaniard said, "Roland Garros and Wimbledon."
Alcaraz has previously stated that countryman Nadal has always been his childhood idol. The pair have shared the stage in three high-stakes matches already on the ATP Tour, including two encounters in Madrid.
In this video that has resurfaced, he was asked about his idol, and to the surprise of many, he answered: "Roger Federer." The Swiss Maestro is not competing on the ATP Tour at the moment as he's recovering from an injury.
However, he already confirmed that he will play at the 2022 Swiss Indoors in Basel and Roger Federer is the only player from the 'Big Four' including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray, that is yet to play against the young Spanish superstar.
