The 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is not just a great tennis player but also a great person, as he helps people in need through his foundation.
On Tuesday, it was announced that Roger Federer would be playing in the 2022 Swiss Indoors in Basel, and on the very same day, he managed to do also some charity work, as he helped thousands of children in Africa.
The Swiss Maestro, even though he was born in Basel, Switzerland, has African roots. Federer's mother is South African, and it's not surprising to see him doing charity work on this continent, as he has a somewhat deep connection with it.
Roger Federer Foundation helps people around the globe, especially in Africa, the continent where he has roots. The 20-time Grand Slam champion was in Africa numerous times, as he does quite a lot of charitable work there.
Now, Federer visited this continent again when he arrived in Malawi and had a meeting with the Minister of Gender to visit the training of mentors. Previously, the Swiss player's foundation spent over $13,5 million on building pre-schools in Malawi.
During this visit, the Roger Federer Foundation has given the Malawi government 3000 tablets to aid in the capacity building of pre-primary school caretakers and early-grade teachers in schools.
This should significantly help with education of children in the country, and it's expected that this wouldn't be the only donation from the Swiss, as he's known for his passion for charitable actions.
In terms of his professional life, Federer is gearing up for his comeback to the ATP Tour, which should happen at the Laver Cup, a tournament for which he has been already confirmed. His schedule after that is not clear, but it's expected that the Swiss Maestro will participate a the 2022 Swiss Indoors in Basel, a tournament which he has won ten times over his illustrious career.
