The ASB Classic is New Zealand's only tour-level tournament and is usually contested in one of the oldest tennis facilities in the world.

The ASB Tennis Centre has been in existence since 1922, and it promises to showcase its wonderful hospitality to the 28 singles players competing in the men's edition this year. The ASB Classic is one of two ATP tournaments running in the week preceding the Australian Open.

At a time when most players are cautious about succumbing to any injury before a Grand Slam, nevertheless, the draw doesn't lack in star presence, and it was released at the weekend, throwing up some exciting matchups.

The top seed is Ben Shelton, who has been surprisingly left out of the USA's team to play the Davis Cup Qualifiers in February. The 21-year-old lefty has a tough draw, with a projected second-round meeting against Gael Monfils.

Two-time finalist Cameron Norrie has unfinished business in this part of the globe. He is the second seed and leads the bottom half. The tournament will also mark the return to action of Denis Shapovalov, who has been granted a wild card.

Reigning champion Richard Gasquet has also received a wild card and faces compatriot Arthur Fils in his title defense. This year's ASB Classic has committed prize money worth $661,585, almost a 3% increase from 2023. This marginal increment will be mirrored across all rounds.

The player who manages to upstage the entire field will be crowned champion and bank $100,640. Additionally, he'll receive the full 250 ranking points. The runner-up, meanwhile, will earn $58,705 and 165 points.

The prize money breakdown begins in the first round, with those players getting $7,095 for their efforts. However, point distribution will commence from the second round. Those players who are lucky enough to win at least one match will receive $11,610 and 25 points.

Quarterfinalists will earn $19,995, while semifinalists each receive $34,510. Check the complete breakdown of prize money and points allocation for the 2024 ASB Classic below.
