Iga Swiatek's failed bid to win the Sunshine Double did not affect her status as the best-performing player in 2024, but she is feeling the heat from those below her.
Elena Rybakina's runner-up finish in Miami has reduced the gap at the top of the WTA Race to just 447 points. The Kazakh also moved above Aryna Sabalenka to second place. The Belarusian's inconsistent run of results since winning the Australian Open persists.
Qinwen Zheng sits in fourth place with just a 20-point cushion over Coco Gauff. Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko remains in sixth. The biggest mover in the Top 10 is Danielle Collins.
The American announced early this year that she was playing her final season as a pro and celebrated her biggest career title last Saturday. Collins shocked Rybakina to win the Miami Open in her home state of Florida.
That success bumps the 30-year-old 19 spots into seventh place. Italy's Jasmine Paolini, who is also a WTA 1000 champion in 2024, completes the top eight. Dubai finalist Anna Kalinskaya takes her seat in ninth place ahead of Marta Kostyuk, who has also enjoyed a fine season.
Emma Navarro is on the verge of a Top 10 breakthrough in this year's race after her best start to a season. The American has the third-highest wins (20) in 2024 behind Swiatek and Rybakina.
Maria Sakkari made up two spots to move into 12th. The Greek qualified for last year's WTA Finals as a replacement for Karolnia Muchiova and will look to make it into the top eight this year.
Victoria Azarenka and Ekaterina Alexandrova each rose four places to sit in 14th and 15th, respectively. Jessica Pegula and Ons Jabeur have a lot of work to do to turn around their fortunes. Pegula is 21st in the current race, while Jabeur is down at a lowly 82nd spot. Both played at last year's WTA Finals in Cancun.
