Iga Swiatek is the first player to clock over 5000 points in the WTA race this season thanks to a stellar clay-court swing.
It could still get even better for Pole as she can top it off by winning a fourth Roland Garros in the next two weeks. Swiatek has won four titles already at the halfway stage of the current season, including two WTA 1000s on clay.
She can recreate history by winning the Triple Crown, which is equivalent to lifting the Madrid-Rome double and the French Open. Only Serena Williams has achieved this feat on the WTA Tour.
With 5335 points to her name, Swiatek has an advantage of 1407 points over Aryna Sabalenka, the Australian Open champion. Elena Rybakina, for her part, is down in third spot with 3593 points.
Danielle Collins is the unexpected name in the top four. Collins celebrates a return to the world's Top 10 of the WTA rankings, but she's ranked fourth in the race, which counts for points earned in 2024. She was a runner-up in Strasbourg this past week and stayed above Coco Gauff.
China's Qinwen Zheng has reached a pair of quarterfinals since her runner-up finish at the Australian Open. She has cascaded from 2nd to 6th in the span of four months. Jelena Ostapenko is down in 7th, while Marta Kostyuk rose above Jasmine Paolini for the coveted eighth spot.
Maria Sakkari pips Daria Kasatkina for 10th spot. After winning her first title of the season in Strasbourg, Madison Keys rose to 15th place. Less than 400 points separates the big-hitting American from the Top 10.
The WTA race is an important metric because it will decide the top eight players who will qualify for the 2024 WTA finals, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Additionally, it will also determine the women's year-end World No. 1, which has been won by Swiatek in each of the last seasons.
