'Unbelievably Complete' Raducanu To Be A 'Threat' At Wimbledon Says Former World No. 1

| by Zachary Wimer

Mats Wilander considers Emma Raducanu a real threat at this year's Wimbledon because she is a complete player.

Raducanu won the US Open as a teenager, amazing the whole tennis world. Nobody saw it coming because she had to qualify for the main draw, but she did it, and it didn't come as a surprise to Wilander.

The former ATP player and current analyst spoke to Eurosport recently, recalling how amazed he was by Raducanu just a few months before at Wimbledon, where she made a run to the fourth round in what was the first time the wider tennis audience got to see her.

"I remember watching Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon just a few months before she won the US Open. I actually had a chat with her coach at the time, and I was telling him that I can't believe how complete she is."

"She's unbelievably complete. She can do everything. And then, of course, that was a famous Wimbledon [in 2021] when she had to stop her match. Then she goes on and she wins the US Open a couple of months later."

Raducanu returned earlier this year from triple surgery underwent last year. It was a slow comeback, but she's gotten herself to a decent level. Her most recent match wasn't very good, but she's going to enter Wimbledon as a player to watch.

Wilander considers her a threat at this year's Wimbledon and at every Grand Slam moving forward.

"I'm not saying she's going win Grand Slam tournaments, but I think she's going to be a threat in many Grand Slam tournaments going forward. Technically, I think grass might be the best surface that she will play on for her own tennis. She's a huge threat at Wimbledon to anyone. Though winning at home is very, very difficult, but she is so good on grass and on fast, hard courts, in my eyes."
