2024 Wimbledon Championships Women's Draw With Swiatek, Sabalenka, Gauff

The 2024 Wimbledon Championships is the third major of the season, and the draw for the Ladies' singles competition was revealed.

The only grass-court Grand Slam tournament in the calendar will run from July 1st to 14th, and despite many injury issues surrounding the top favorites, it seems that all made it in time for the main draw.

Defending champion and last year's surprising winner, Marketa Vondrousova, was among players who were doubtful prior to the major at SW19 after she had a nasty fall at the Berlin Open.

Seemingly, the Czech player recovered in time, and she will enter her title defense as the sixth seed at the All England Club, starting against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the first round of the competition.

Another player who retired from her match in Berlin was Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian, too, recovered in time, and as the third seed, she will be one of the top favorites in London, playing against Emina Bektas in the first round.

Coco Gauff is the highest-ranked American on the WTA Tour, and she was very vocal about her ambitions this year. As the second seed, she will have a chance to prove that at Wimbledon, challenging Caroline Dolehide in her first match.

On the opposite side of the draw from the second-seeded American is the top seed of the tournament, the World No. 1 player, Iga Swiatek, who has yet to advance past the quarter-final at this major.

Grass is by far the Pole's weakest surface, but she will try to prove this year that she can succeed on the low-bouncing green surface, meeting fellow Grand Slam champion Sofia Kenin in the first round of the tournament.

Elena Rybakina is a former Wimbledon champion, and she will want to prove that her first major triumph was no fluke. In her first match, the Kazakshtani player will play against Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

There are also a few unseeded players in the draw who could go far. Chief among them is former world no. 1 and four-time major winner Naomi Osaka, who will challenge Diane Parry in the first round of the tournament.

Home crowd hero Emma Raducanu will also want to prove that her 2021 US Open win wasn't by mistake, as she had solid grass preparation, and at SW19, she will start against against the 22nd-seeded grass-court specialist Ekaterina Alexandrova.
