Diane Parry is a French professional tennis player who was born on September 1, 2002, in Nice, France. At age 5, she was whisked into her first experience with a racket. The youngster immediately fell in love with the sport, and her talent soon became evident for all to see.
Her junior career definitely showed signs of her burgeoning promise, with Parry reaching the semifinal of the girls’ tournament at Wimbledon 2019 and the same stage in the doubles at that year’s Roland Garros. Rewind a couple of years, and she was already making her WTA main draw debut, aged just 15.
It came after she was granted a wildcard into the main draw of her home Slam, with the organizers recognizing the talent they had on their hands. Despite losing in the first round of the doubles, it was a priceless experience for the young girl from the south of France.
2019 was the year she made her first appearance at the main draw of a Grand Slam in singles. Again, coming at Roland Garros, she was once more gifted a wildcard into the coveted list of 128. Pitted against Vera Lapko in the first round, she came out on top only to lose to 20th seed Elise Mertens.
Back on the regular WTA Tour, Parry had her first taste of a WTA 125 competition win at the Montevideo Open, where she beat Panna Udvardy in the final. As the years passed, her progress only went up, with her reaching Grand Slam third-rounds at both the French Open and Wimbledon in 2022, ultimately getting her inside the world’s Top 60 for the first time in her career.
This upward curve became a regular theme for the French player, with her getting the third round of the Australian Open in 2024 and making fourth-round appearances at WTA 1000 events. This stellar run of form meant that she broke into the Top 50 in April 2024, setting herself up nicely for a busy summer on the WTA Tour.
