Iga Swiatek has left her rivals with plenty of work to do to catch up at the top of the WTA rankings.
Swiatek is celebrating her 113th week as World No. 1 as she moves closer to overtaking Justine Henin and Ashleigh Barty for most weeks in the Top 10 list. With her unassailable lead for the next few months, she looks certain to pass the two WTA legends.
Coco Gauff is defending the most points during the North American hard-court swing after winning three titles last year, including the US Open. The 20-year-old's position as World No. 2 is far from guaranteed, although she will remain there at least for the whole duration of the Olympic Games.
Aryna Sabalenka (3rd) and Elena Rybakina (4th) will look to pounce should the young American lose her momentum on the hard courts. Jasmine Paolini prolongs her stay in the top five after becoming the first Italian woman to reach the Wimbledon final over a week ago.
The Top 10 remained unchanged, although China's Qinwen Zehng successfully defended her Palermo Open crown. Diana Shnaider is the other WTA player who won the other Tour-level tournament held this past week.
The 20-year-old Russian lefty won her third WTA title of the season in Budapest in supreme fashion, dropping one set all week. Shnaider is the youngest woman to win three titles on all surfaces in the same season since Caroline Wozniacki in 2009. She motors five places to a career-high ranking of No. 23.
Who Are the Other Big Movers In This Week's WTA Rankings
Karolina Muchova only spent one week outside the Top 30. She was a runner-up in Palermo and hauls herself to No. 29. Elina Svitolina, who parted ways with her coach, exits the group (down to 31st).
Diane Parry is closing in on a Top 50 return. The French one-hander advanced to her second WTA semifinal of the season at the WTA 250 event in Palermo (losing to eventual champion Zheng). She climbs to 52nd.
Jaqueline Cristian also impressed when competing in Sicily, reaching her second quarterfinal of the season on clay. She climbs to 61st, her best ranking since 2022.
Anna Karolina Schimedlova's semifinal exit in Budapest will sting for a while. The Slovak held a 5-2 lead in the third set of her match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich and lost. But on the plus side, she is back in the Top 70.
Sasnovich, for her part, is on the verge of a Top 100 return. The experienced Belarusian was a runner-up in the Hungarian capital and soared 30 places to No. 104.
Eva Lys made her first WTA semifnal at the same WTA 250 tournamnet. The 22-year-old German rises to a new career-high ranking of No. 108.
Alexandra Eala captured her biggest title at the ITF level, beating Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the final at the W100 Vitoria-Gasteiz. The 19-year-old Filipina broke the Top 150 for the first time (up to a career-high of no. 143).
Maria Timofeeva's title defense in Budapest ended in the second-round stage. After breaking the Top 100 at the end of March, the 20-year-old Russian lost valuable points and is ranked at No. 160 this week.
