Murray Brothers Learn Draw For Their First And Last Wimbledon Together

by Zachary Wimer

Andy Murray will be playing his final Wimbledon this year, and he'll also play the doubles with his brother Jamie, which is also the first and the last time that will happen SW19.

The Murray brothers generally haven't played doubles together a lot because Andy mostly focused on his singles career, while Jamie predominantly focused on his doubles career, playing with different opponents.

They played together on occasion and did pretty well overall; however, they never won a big trophy together. They also never played doubles together at Wimbledon, but they will play this year after receiving a wild card.

It's a way to send out Andy with a bang because this is his final time playing at the event. The Brit is retiring sometime this year, even though he hasn't announced when yet.

It will be fascinating to see the Murray brothers competing together at Wimbledon. In the first round of the men's doubles tournament, they will be facing Rinky Hijikata and John Peers, which is a really tough pairing to face early on.

Should they succeed, the British duo would face the winners of the match between the ninth-seeded Neal Skupski and Michael Venus, or Lucas Miedler and Alexander Erler. Moving forward, there are many teams they could face, including fellow home wild cards Liam Broady and Billy Harris, and Henry Searle and Dan Evans, who are among their possible third-round opponents.

Still, Murray's Wimbledon participation is uncertain at the moment. He suffered a back injury at the Cinch Championships not long ago, making his Wimbledon participation questionable.

He had to undergo surgery, which only complicated things further as the general recovery time was well beyond Wimbledon. However, he's in the draw. He didn't pull out, likely because it's his final Wimbledon participation, and he wants a proper send-off on the courts where he had so much success.
