Ons Jabeur joined Iga Swiatek as the second player to qualify for the 2022 WTA Finals which will be held in Fort Worth in Texas.
The young Pole is the most dominant player of the 2022 season and therefore her spot for the 2022 WTA finals was secured already in the middle of the season. However, there's a huge fight for the remaining seven spots and Ons Jabeur was the first player to secure enough points to qualify for the event.
The Tunisian played two Grand Slam finals this year and one of them was at the Wimbledon, where points were not counted towards the WTA Rankings. Both players didn't hide that they were happy about securing their spots, when they stated:
“I’m really excited to qualify for the WTA Finals this year for the second time in my career and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans in Fort Worth,” Swiatek said.
“It is such an honor to qualify for the WTA Finals,” Jabeur said. “It was my goal from the beginning of the season to play the tournament and I can’t wait to compete as one the top 8 players in the world.”
