Madison Keys and Linda Fruhvirtova engaged in a noble cause during the offseason in a time when most tennis players are making full use of their short pause vacationing.
Keys is the founder of Kindness Wins, which is "a nonprofit dedicated to promoting kindness to youth, kindness to self, and kindness to others in times of struggle," as described on the official foundation's website.
The foundation aims to bolster youth's access to sports, education, and "their own desires to make a difference and create a kinder world, always showing that kindness wins." And Keys took part in an exhibition event to disseminate her mission.
The 28-year-old invited Czech teenager Linda Fruhvirotova to The Boca Raton - a famous luxury resort and club in Florida - where they played a one-off tennis match last Saturday night under the gaze of a small pocket of hotel guests and fans.
After the match, Keys spoke to those in attendance and had a chance to mingle with the fans. The former US Open finalist also hosted a kids' clinic comprised mainly of young girls of all ages in the first part of Saturday.
The American World No. 12 posed for the cameras, and some of the event's pictures have been shared on the official social media pages of Kindness Wins.
"An evening with Madison Keys. Such a special Saturday night at @TheBocaRaton as our founder played against Linda Fruhvirtova and mingled with tennis fans, all while raising money for #KindnessWins. Thank you to everyone who attended and participated in the fun!"
In the past, Keys has admitted that WTA players have approached her to help her fast-track the organization's mission. Teaming up with a young talent like Fruhvirtova is a hint that the American's voice is spreading and resonating with the new generation.
