It’s unknown how long
Clara Tauson will be out of action.
Clara Tauson will have to delay the start of her clay-court season this year.
She had been scheduled to play the WTA 500 tournament in Linz, Austria, in the coming week, but it was announced Friday evening that this will not happen.
Inflammation in her back has forced Tauson to take a break. These are the same back issues that previously caused her significant pain during the tournaments in Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
Subsequent examinations in Europe have led Clara Tauson and her team to prioritize rest and rehabilitation in order to recover fully.
This was stated by her father and manager, Søren Tauson, in a written response to danish TV 2.
At the Miami Open, Tauson had to retire after two sets in her match against Katie Boulter.
Return date unknown
Clara Tauson is also disappointed that she cannot compete in the coming week.
“Unfortunately, I can’t play the wonderful tournament in Linz. I have many great memories from the tournament and will definitely return in the future,” she said on the tournament’s website.
Tauson reached the semifinals in Linz during last year’s tournament.
At this point, there is no clear timeline for her return, although she is still listed as a participant in the upcoming tournament in Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
Following Stuttgart, she is scheduled for a busy stretch with major events in Madrid Open and Italian Open.
These tournaments serve as preparation for the season’s next Grand Slam, French Open in Paris, which gets underway toward the end of May.
