British tennis sensation Emma Raducanu is open to the idea of playing Wimbledon mixed doubles with three-time Grand Slam champion Andy Murray.
With Wimbledon just around the corner, the 19-year-old spoke and shared her earliest tennis memories from the grass-court major growing up as a fan but also as an aspiring junior player.
Raducanu announced herself on the big stage at the very tournament she holds dear to her heart when, as a virtually unknown wild card last year, she stormed into the second week with victories over former Roland Garros finalist Marketa Vondrousova and Romanian veteran Sorana Cirstea.
Her campaign ended in the fourth round when she was forced to retire from her match against Ajla Tomljanovic because of a stomach injury, leaving many to wonder what would become of her talent.
That didn't take long enough until Raducanu made tennis history when, just a few months later, she became the first-ever qualifier to win a Grand Slam tournament at the US Open.
She has since risen to become a Top 20 player and recently teased the idea of joining forces with two-time Wimbledon champion Murray in mixed doubles in the near future.
She expressed her wish to play doubles with the former ATP No. 1 at least once in her career. Perhaps it will happen this year. Perhaps Raducanu is floating the idea, or maybe they already agreed, and she's teasing fans. Either way, it would be great to see, so hopefully, it comes true.
"I remember my first trip to Wimbledon with my coach and another player who was my age. We were asking everyone for their autographs – and I mean everyone! I’ve still got photographs from that day."
"Just once in my life, I’d love to play doubles with Andy Murray at Wimbledon."
Raducanu was eliminated from the second-round stage of this year's French Open and will start her preparations for the grass-court swing in the United Kingdom.
