The 2024 Eastbourne International is one of two final warm-up tournaments before Wimbledon, and the entry list has been revealed.
The event, which was first founded in 1974, is part of the WTA 250 series. Some iconic names have won the Eastbourne International in the past, including Chris Evert, Tracy Austin, and Martina Navratilova (an 11-time champion).
This tournament will run concurrently with the Berlin Open, a WTA 500-level event taking place in Germany, from June 24th to 29th. Eight of the world's Top 20 players have committed to playing in Eastbourne.
Last year, Madison Keys topped the podium after beating Daria Kasatkina in straight sets in the final. It was her second title at the event, and she maintained the great track record of American women excelling in Eastbourne.
The big-hitting Keys has been confirmed as an entrant in this year's tournament, potentially as a top-five seed. The highest-ranked player in the 2024 edition is World No. 4 Elena Rybakina.
The big-serving Kazakhstani is a former semifinalist. She will return to Eastbourne for the first time since 2022 where Jessica Pegula and Danielle Collins will join her as the three top-10 representatives in the field.
Jelena Ostapenko will also play. The Latvian has a fine record on these lawns, reaching successive finals in 2021 and 2022 and winning one title. Kasatkina, meanwhile, will hope to go one better after last year's runner-up finish.
Some of the breakout stars of 2024, such as Jasmine Paolini and Yue Yuan, will aim to transfer their exploits to grass. British No. 1 Katie Boulter and wild card Emma Raducanu will be huge star attractions for the home crowd.
There is a place in the main draw for Karolina Muchova, the 2023 Roland Garros finalist. The Czech hasn't played since hurting her wrist at last year's US Open. Additional Grand Slam champions in the field include Barbora Krejcikova and Sloane Stephens.
