The Zhengzhou Open will be the final WTA 500-level event of the 2023 season which will run from October 9th to 15th.

The Zhengzhou Open was part of the women's calendar, first as an ITF tournament in 2014, before it was upgraded to a WTA 125K level. In 2019, the event was spruced up, forming part of the 500 category. After a four-year hiatus, it has a spot on the WTA calendar this year.

The tournament will feature a 32-player singles field in its second edition as a fully-fledged Tour-level event. Four of the seven players who have contested a Grand Slam final this season will aggrandize the courts at the Zhongyuan Tennis Training Base Management Center - home of the Zhengzhou Open.

The 2023 Zhengzhou Open boasts an ostentatious list, spearheaded by former and current Wimbledon champions Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova. The tournament organizers attracted four more Top 10 players, including two-time Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur, and French Open finalist Karolina Muchova.

Maria Sakkari and reigning WTA Finals champion Caroline Garcia round up the Top-10 players in the main draw. Quite a number of formidable hard court specialists ranked outside the Top 10 are part of the main draw entrants.

These are Madison Keys, who made the semifinal of the recently-concluded US Open, 2021 French Open champion Barbora Krejcikova, Olympic gold medalist Belinda Bencic, and Lidumila Samsonova.

China's star player Qinwen Zheng will look to make an impression in front of her home fans on her debut appearance, and she will be joined by Magda Linette and Sorana Cirstea, both first-time visitors in Zhenzhou who occupy the last main draw entry bar. American Jennifer Brady will use her special ranking to enter the main draw.

The tournament's defending champion is Karolina Pliskova who won the the first edition of the event in 2019 beating Petra Martic in straight sets. However, both players who are currently outside the Top 30, haven't met the high cut-off entry, and are part of the main draw alternates. You can check
