The 2023 US Open promises to be an exciting Grand Slam event, and the WTA entry list for it is equally exciting.
Running from August 28th to September 10th, the 2023 US Open is the last Grand Slam tournament of the season. Last year, Iga Swiatek lifted her first hard-court Grand Slam title at the Flushing Meadows, and the Pole will be the defending champion in 2023.
But her journey to the title may be very difficult this year. Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina will both want to stand in her way, with home players Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula also certainly thinking about a possible upset.
But the entry list for the 2023 US Open isn't interesting only because of the top names on the seeded positions. Caroline Wozniacki is one of the interesting names on the entry list, after the Dane announced a comeback to tennis and received a wild card for the tournament.
Another player that hasn't been seen on the tennis court for quite some time, and appears on the entry list is Simona Halep. However, the Romanian's name has a little star next to it, saying that she's still provisionally suspended, but the good thing for her fans is the fact, that Halep finally appeared on the entry list.
Among possible favourites, Ons Jabeur will want to prove her qualities after making a final run in 2022, but also the likes of Caroline Garcia, Petra Kvitova, Maria Sakkari, and Daria Kasatkina can be considered to be one of the dark horses, despite being seeded high.
The 2023 Wimbledon champion, Marketa Vondrousova will surely be one of the dark horses too, and so will the 16-year-old prodigy Mirra Andreeva who only recently broke into the Top 100 and secured her main-draw spot at the Flushing Meadows.
