Provisionally Suspended Simona Halep Surprisingly Appears On 2023 US Open Entry List

Simona Halep appeared on the 2023 US Open entry list despite still being provisionally suspended from the sport.

Last year's US Open was the last event Simona Halep played as she was provisionally suspended from the sport after the event. Banned substances were found in two samples she provided that resulted in her automatic suspension from competing on the WTA Tour.

The Romanian promised to fight to clear her name and embarked on a long journey to prove her innocence. It's still going on as her hearings were pushed back multiple times resulting in the Romanian proclaiming the whole process a witch hunt. News about the hearings finally underway appeared recently, and it seems we have some movement.

Many people in the tennis community vouched for Halep and her approach to tennis, though things became even more complicated when she was charged with another offence after her biological passport showed some irregularities. It was a terrible outcome for the Romanian as some suggested that this could be the end of her tennis career however fans are still holding out hope.

Recent news is pointing towards a positive outcome as Halep posted earlier today on social media showing herself on a tennis court which immediately created a buzz in the tennis community. There is no information about her doping cases so as of now she's still suspended but something is going on.

Her name suddenly appeared on the entry list of the 2023 US Open, even though it wasn't there on Monday for example. Next to her name, we have a star that marks her a suspended player but all of these moves are making fans hopeful that some news about her possible return will come out soon.

She's on the entry list, she's apparently practising so perhaps the hearings went well. We don't know and we won't know unless she officially confirms anything but fans have been holding out hope for months and perhaps they get the news they want soon. It's great timing as she was supposed to disappear from the WTA rankings in the coming weeks.
