The 17th edition of the Guangzhou Open will feature one of the most open fields for the unsung stars of women's tennis to win a WTA title.

Running from September 18th to 23rd, the Guangzhou Open will signal the return of Tour-level tennis to Chinese territory for the first time in four years. The tournament has attracted some interesting names in this year's field including Poland's Magda Linette, the 2023 Australian Open semifinalist.

Linette isn't the only Top-50 player in the draw. She will be joined by resurgent Romanian Sorana Cirstea who is seeking her third career title and will be among the favorites. Lin Zhu will be the biggest draw in Guangzhou. Seeded at No. 3, the Chinese player will look to dazzle in front of her home fans.

The likes of Tatjana Maria, Linda Fruhvirtova, and Katie Boulter will aim to add to their trophy cabinets during the week. The Chinese duo of Xinyu Wang and Xiyu Wang add to the home players participation in the event and will be among the young talent to look out for.

The 32-player list will battle for their share of the overall prize pool of $259,303 that will be distributed in Guangzhou. The champion takes $34,228 of that total and 280 points will be tallied to their name in the WTA Rankings.

The vanquished finalist will be rewarded with 180 points and $20,226. The two semifinalists who won't reach the finals will need to settle with 110 points and $11,275.

Each player in the draw will get a bite of the prize money purse as the first-round losers will get 1 point and $2,804. Players that will be eliminated in the second round stage will earn $3,920 and get 30 points next to their name in the rankings.

The four unsuccessful quarterfinalists will get 60 points and a monetary compensation of $6,418. Check the full prize money and points breakdown for the 2023 Guangzhou Open below.
